Phantom!

Okay, this is just going to be a short post, but back in March...The beginning of March, the music department went on a little "mini" trip. (which was replacing the California trip this year :P) We went to Phantom of the Opera in Vegas!!

*In the picture above you will see Sierra Boggs, (or who i am strongly thinking is Seirra Boggs) and this Sierra is the one i saw on Broadway for The Little Mermaid! Kinda an interesting thing, she was the original Vegas Venetian Phantom

The overall performance was amazing. I had already seen it before; my mom, dad and I went back on December 27Th, in 2007. It was stunning then, and stunning this time around as well. They "Vegas-ize" it, cutting about an hour of the show out. (no intermission, a couple scenes i think, go a little faster paced) They have actual stunt doubles, instead of just using dummies... They have parts with actual fire...Ya its pretty amazing. If you haven't seen it-i would suggest you go ASAP! :)

One very BIG advantage we got by going with the school was that we got to talk to a few of the actual actors and actresses afterward in a Q/A session. We also got to talk to the manager of it, and some of the tour guides.

The actresses and actor we got to talk to afterwards was the Christine, Raoul, and the Carlotta!

In the picture you can see Sarah Lawrence (Christine), Andrew Ragone (Raoul, and Danielle White (Carlotta). (with a few other people in the picture...)

I really liked the Carlotta's personality, and just how she answered the questions and things. The Christine seemed like a pretty okay girl. The Raoul...bugged me. hahaha Some people who were sitting on the front row mentioned that his first button was undone (showing off a lot of chest hair) and the big rumor going around was that he also had his fly down. But that's not what bothered me about him so much as the fact that he was FULL of himself. And you could tell. Just the way he would hog ALL the questions, even when they we rent directed at him. Then he would always talk as if he was the main character of the performance. I wanted to hear more about what Danielle White had to say!! She had been on the show since the beginning, and was a lot more interesting... haha People like him just bug me.

Something that really impressed me about this show in particular was that the show house was designed exactly like the original opera house in Paris. (i think from when the show first went on!) It is just stunningly beautiful!

They have mannequins

Also, the magnificent chandelier. That was a wonderful addition to the show. It is amazing. I know that it cost them a lot of money when they got the show too, (in the millions i believe...) They were talking about it in the Q/A.

As always when i watch a Broadway or off-Broadway show i was blown away by the LIVE music. I think I've probably mentioned that on my blog before... but yeah, it is probably one of my favorite parts of the show. The orchestra was fantastic, the casts voices were wonderful, it was magnificent!

Yes i know that this post was a little...overdue. But hey, i post when I can! :)
NOW to wait for WICKED on July 12th.... ^_^
